THE 20WORLD CYPHER: 2.0

This second 20World Cypher was created as both a performance platform and a community moment for emerging artists who rarely had access to professional, high-energy live sessions.

As co-founder and director of 20World, my aim was to strip the format back to its core (artists, lyrics, and presence) while using considered production to elevate the experience without overpowering it.

The multi-camera setup was intentional, featuring a clean front-centre angle to anchor performance, lo-fi VHS footage to inject texture and nostalgia, and a fisheye lens to capture movement, crowd energy, and connection between artists.

This visual contrast mirrored the diversity of styles within the cypher and kept a 47-minute runtime visually engaging.

Lighting and spatial layout were designed to feel intimate but charged, encouraging collaboration between artists (many of whom were meeting or performing together for the first time.)

Beyond filming, I shaped the project end-to-end, directing the crew, artists and DJ, producing instrumentals, capturing and mixing audio, and designing animated titles, credits, and branded motion elements to unify the release.

Supporting assets such as YouTube thumbnails and social promos were treated as extensions of the same visual system, ensuring the cypher functioned not just as content, but as a statement of 20World’s commitment to culture, opportunity, and independent growth.
